Bible/Princess Party

We celebrated Luke and Audrey in a joint birthday celebration this weekend.  Luke turned 6 a few weeks ago, and Audrey will be 4 in two weeks.  I suggested the joint party a few months ago, and was pleasantly surprised that they were all for it.  I figured we had a small window to do a joint party, so took advantage of the two for one.  I can confidently say, they loved doing it together, and it was a success!

They each got to choose their own theme and Luke chose bible, while Audrey chose princess.  I was quite shocked when Luke first told me he wanted a bible party.  First of all, what did that mean, and second of all, what 6 year old suggests that!  I was sure as the months went on he would change his mind 10 times, but he surprised me, stuck to his guns, and we had a wonderful bible themed birthday.  This sweet boy was very into the party planning process.  He drew me actual diagrams of the cake he wanted and pretty much planned the whole thing.  I tried my best to stick with his vision.  He just amazes me with his faith.  While I know he is only 6, he says things all the time inspire me.  I was trying to make his cake a little more whimsy and suggested making it colorful, and he refused.  He wanted the icing white because that represents purity, like Jesus.  I mean...where is he getting this!  Brian and I have really tried to teach him about the Lord and share our faith, but he definitely has something inside him that cant be taught.  Makes me so proud and humble at the same time, and I can't wait to see who this little man becomes.  I pray he never looses his enthusiasm for the Lord or willingness to share about him.

Audrey on the other hand, just wanted a pretty princess cake, and didn't care about the details.  She just said make it all pink and all princess, and left me too it.  She too has such a sweet little spirit, and is definitely our little princess.

We had the party at Emler Swim School, and the kids had so much fun!  Here are pictures from the party.  Thanks to my friend, Corrie Barto, for snapping all the party shots!

Happy Birthday to our little preacher and princess!

Luke is 6!

This sweet boy turned SIX yesterday!  I can't believe it!  He is such a sweet and kind boy, and we are so blessed to call him ours.  He is the best big brother, and is such a great example to his sisters and cousins (most of the time..haha).  He loves legos, Lego Chima, Ninjago, Marvel Superheros, Wild Kratts, playing Sorry!, playing Monopoly, doing anything that Daddy does, playing sports, karate, swimming and pretty much anything that will let him run around like a crazy guy.  He loves to read books, and is starting to be able to read a little bit more on his own.  He is very excited to start Kindergarten in a month, and is still as accident  prone as ever!  We love our Luke to pieces and thank God that we were blessed to be able to raise him here on this earth.  Luke already seems to have a heart for the Lord, and says things that amaze and inspire me all the time.  Our biggest prayer is that this boy will continue on with his love for the Lord and follow him throughout his life.

Luke and Audrey are having a joint birthday party with their friends in a few weeks, but we still had some fun celebrating him on his day yesterday.  The day started out with donuts that daddy picked up.

We went to Tula's to have some pool fun with the cousins and Memaw.  The Schmid's got Luke this cool jet ski float.  It was from Costco and awesome! It has a motorized fan on the bottom, so you can actually drive it around the pool.  It also had a squirt gun attached.  Very cool!

We opened a few gifts.

If looks could kill...haha!

Maybe she was mad it wasn't her birthday this time.  Haha!

Tula telling Luke how proud she is of him.

Cupcake fun.

Last night after dinner we met Tula and Pop, Nonnie and Grandpa, Memaw, Ali and all the cousins at Bahama Bucks.  Luke got the birthday cake flavor and it was yummy!  He got to open a few more gifts, and spend time with his favorite people.

I love looking back every year and seeing how he changes.  Here he is on his birthday every year.

Happy Birthday to our first child, the one who made us parents.  We love you!
