6 Months!!

Savannah is half a year old!  Wow!  She is so sweet and has had some new developments this month.  At the present moment she has a nasty virus.  This is probably the sickest she has been, and poor thing just looks miserable. Runny nose, cough, glassy eyes, you can just tell that she doesn't feel well.  I took her 6 month pictures this morning, and you can kind of see it in her eyes.  She was putting on a brave face though!

She is such a little love, but has definitely gotten some personality this month.  She is no longer the quiet one.  She is a yeller!  She is a happy yeller, but a yeller. =)  She also has no problem telling me she is mad now.  In fact, poor thing pretty much cries and screams from 8:30-8:50 every morning.  She basically needs to go down for a nap, but I can't put her down because we have to take the big kids to school.  Poor thing is usually out by the time we leave the driveway.  Third kid problems for sure!

I took her to the doctor this week for her check-up and she is doing great!  She is back up on her growth curve and is on track with everything else.  Here are her stats:

  • weight: 15 pounds 1 ounce (25-50%)
  • height: 2 feet 1.5 inches (25-50%)
  • head: 17 inches (50-75%)

Here is what she has been up to:

  • Rolling machine.  Can now roll across a room.
  • Sitter!  We still have to put the boppy behind her because she tends to tip, but overall is doing great!
  • Eats 4 times a day and has started solids and hates them!
  • Takes 3 naps a day
  • wears 6 month clothes and size 2 or 3 diapers
  • Got her first hair cut.  I cut it.  I was horrible.  Patches everywhere, mullet, and new hair growing in is way lighter than the baby hair.  She needed it!
Here she is looking at her daddy before church.  Love this!

Pretty girl ready for church.

First time sitting.

Right after her hair cut.

Not a solid fan.  We will keep trying!

I still think she looks more like Luke, but I see Audrey in her more and more.  Audrey on the left, Savannah on the right.

The kids adore her.  Luke always talks to her, and Audrey tries to give her toys all the time.  Love this picture, even if it is blurry.

Ok, and finally for the latest news.... She will need a doc band (aka helmet).  We noticed she had developed a flat spot on the right side of her head before she was even 2 months old.  The doctor said she had some neck tightness, and she always slept with her face looking over her right shoulder.  This caused her head to flatten out in that spot.  We have been watching it closely, but it is not seeming to get better.  We finally took her in for a consult with Cranial Technologies and got an evaluation.  Turns out she is in the moderate category.  What freaked me out the most, was that they pointed out that her right ear is shifted forward some, due to the right side being flattened and basically pushing that bone forward.  I was told that wearing glasses could be difficult.  Now, this is not something I ever noticed, or think anyone would be able to obviously see, but once they pointed it out, I could definitely tell.  We obviously don't have to get her a helmet, but we have chosen to do so.  There is a chance that her head could fix itself, but if it doesn't you can't go back and correct it past 15 months.  Sooo.... we are forking over the big bucks to fix this wonky head! Haha!  In the long run we figured we wouldn't regret doing it, but may regret not doing it, so there you go.  Here is the most pitiful picture of her getting her initial picture and then the official one with the stocking over her face.  Hilarious and sad at the same time!  I'll post an update once we are helmeted up!

We love you Savannah Kate, wonky head and all! :)

Desserts With Dad

Desserts with Dads was a couple of weeks ago at our preschool.  The kids were so excited to show their daddy everything they had made, and their classrooms.  Here are some of the fun things that Daddy got.

Gifts from Luke.

I love these questions they ask the kids.

Audrey made him a very special koozie.

Soccer!

We have now entered into the world of team sports!  Luke has been asking to play soccer for awhile, so we signed him up for the spring league.  They were short on coaches, so daddy stepped up to the plate and is the coach to the Falcons.  (Luke picked the team name).  Luke loves having his daddy as the coach!  Their first game was Saturday and it was so cute!  Luke had 9, yes 9, people in his cheering section.  They included me, Audrey, Savannah, Nonnie, Grandpa, Tula, Pop, Aunt Ali,  and Uncle G.  He loved seeing all of us there, and kept looking over at us.  The Falcons did a great job, and let's face it, the goal is pretty much to just keep the kids on the field! Luke was quite the little hustler and just had a blast.  Here are some pictures from the game.

Luke was so proud of his jersey and picked out number 10.  This is special, as I was number 10 in high school, and Brian was 10 at Iowa State.  He wore it the day before the game and was practicing hard in our backyard.  At one point he kept missing the goal, and looked at Brian and I and said, 'I just don't want to let my team down".  Bless his heart...

The coach did a great job!

Wow, what a good looking coach! ;)

Action shots.

This is what the girls looked like during the game.  Audrey missed her nap, and Savannah snoozed away.  Oh and Savannah's hair is hurt-ting!  Falling out in patches and growing in in different colors and lengths. Quite a sight to see!  At least I chopped off the mullet this weekend. =)

After the game....we sure are proud of our little hustler!
